Scottish Parliament Garden Lobby

Old Town, Prague

Prague Castle and River Vltava

Home again

Well, the holiday was good. Eventful but good (and definitely much needed!). My luggage didn't turn up till a day after we arrived, and Paula's turned up the day before we left for home. Minus her GameBoy. (Who has GameBoys these days?! Not Paula now anyway... Thought those things were antiques...)

The city centre of Prague is really nice - though full of tourists... don'tcha just hate tourists? ;-)

Unfortunately, we were staying in one of the suburbs which looked like a cross between the Scottish Parliament building site about 2 years ago, and Stalin's Russia.

I got back on Monday, had one day off to recover, then was back in work Wednesday. Was feeling very refreshed and enthusiastic too. On Wednesday. Kinda started wearing off on Thursday, though! Probably back to normal when I head back in the morning...!

One week of Parliamentary Recess left, then it's back to the grind again. Going for our tour of Holyrood on Tuesday, and our "familiarisation session" on Wednesday. I went down to the Parliament building the week before I went on holiday, expecting to hate it. In fact, from the short tour of it I got (not all areas were open then) I really liked it. Inside it's very impressive, the entrance hall as you come out of Queensbury House into the new building is superb. (see the photo!)

I'm on holiday!

Right, last post for a week or two. I'm heading off on my holidays!

I'm off to Prague on Monday for a week, so if I take any nice photos, they'll be posted in the gallery page of my website.

Today I'm listening to: Cliff Richard's Summer Holiday (kidding!), Pet Shop Boys, actually pretty much anything because the computer's on random shuffle!
Tomorrow I'll be: Packing *sigh* - I hate packing!

TGI Friday...

It's Friday. It's 7 o'clock (nearly). It's Crackerjack!!! (Sorry, no, wrong show... and very definitely showing my age!)

I'm heading south for the weekend, off to try and take some photographs of Cragside in Northumberland tomorrow.

In the meantime - enjoy this website - particularly if you're in the UK!

A new start (again!)

Ok, it's been a couple of months since I posted anything on my blog. There are several very good reasons for that. Which I won't bore you with. But one of them's that I've been working on my website recently - it's gone from being a black empty space to being a cream blue and orange empty space! Nah, it's starting to come together now. Please visit it!

I've been having a browse of some other folks' blogs tonight, some of them have really clever things in like tables and comments. You never know, I might eventually work out how to do all that.

What did strike me, as I was reading these snippets of people's lives, was just how voyeuristic it is. Why do we put our thoughts on the web for all to read? Especially some of the blogs I've read... I'm sorry, but there's such a thing as Too Much Information!!

Today I've been listening to: Mull Historical Society, Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Tomorrow I'll be: working. Grr.
